Bio-Techne launches GMP small molecule production at its new 10,000 sq ft Bristol cell therapy facility, expanding global GMP manufacturing for next-genera

Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) has brought a purpose-built Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) small molecule facility into full operation in Bristol, United Kingdom, the company announced on October 8, 2026, from its Minneapolis headquarters.
The site is already producing GMP-grade small molecules for customers developing next-generation cell therapies around the world. The opening expands Bio-Techne's global capacity to serve the fast-growing cell therapy market and deepens its GMP manufacturing infrastructure for cell therapy applications.
Company leadership framed the Bristol investment as part of a wider effort to build a manufacturing network spanning every stage of the cell therapy workflow and noted that the new site complements recent investments the company has made in North America.
The 10,000-square-foot facility houses five ISO-8 multifunctional cleanrooms and two ISO-7 cleanrooms dedicated to GMP small molecule manufacturing and product handling.
Bio-Techne said the design meets the rigorous standards required for advanced cell therapy manufacturing, strengthening its ability to supply customers with high-quality GMP materials backed by robust quality systems and dependable global supply.
Kim Kelderman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bio-Techne, said the Bristol investment demonstrates the company's commitment to providing customers with the GMP materials, manufacturing expertise, and supply chain reliability needed to accelerate development and bring transformative therapies to patients worldwide.
He added that as the cell therapy field matures, success increasingly hinges on the ability to manufacture therapies consistently and at scale.
Will Geist, President of the company's Protein Sciences Segment, described the Bristol opening as more than added capacity.
In his view, it strengthens Bio-Techne's ability to act as a long-term partner for cell therapy innovators by offering the quality, scale, and global support required to navigate the path from discovery to commercial supply.
The new UK site joins an existing network that includes recombinant protein manufacturing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and extensive GMP capabilities in St. Paul.
Bio-Techne also maintains a strategic relationship with Wilson Wolf Corporation, which manufactures cell culture devices, including the widely adopted G-Rex platform.
Taken together, the company says, these operations enable an increasingly integrated portfolio spanning GMP proteins, GMP small molecules, GMP cell media, custom manufacturing services, analytical solutions, and process development support.
Combined capabilities across Bristol, St. Paul, and Minneapolis are intended to support customers from discovery through clinical development and commercial production.
Bio-Techne positioned the investment as a direct response to what it describes as one of the industry's most pressing challenges: establishing scalable, reproducible manufacturing processes that carry programs from early development through commercialization.
Cell therapy developers, according to the company, face mounting pressure to reduce variability, standardize manufacturing processes, and scale production efficiently while regulatory expectations continue to evolve.
The company says it tackles these issues through high-quality GMP materials, scalable manufacturing solutions, and analytical technologies intended to improve consistency and shorten development timelines.
Bio-Techne also observed that recent industry discussions have increasingly emphasized manufacturing scalability as a critical factor in broadening patient access to advanced therapies, reinforcing the case for investments like the Bristol expansion.
Headquartered in Minnesota and marking 50 years of serving scientific and diagnostic communities, Bio-Techne provides reagents, analytical instruments, and precision diagnostics through three customer-focused brands: R&D Systems, Bio-Techne Spatial, and Bio-Techne Diagnostics, aligned to the progression from discovery to translational research and clinical decision-making.
The company operates across 34 locations worldwide with a workforce exceeding 3,000 people. In fiscal year 2025, Bio-Techne recorded net sales of over USD 1.2 billion, and its portfolio of more than 500,000 products serves academic researchers, biopharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and clinical diagnostic laboratories globally.
