BMK Pharma Set to Begin Interior Work on Allen Headquarters and Sterile Drug Production Site

BMK Pharma, a contract manufacturer for compounded medications, plans to begin interior work on its new headquarters and production facility in Allen on Oct. 1, according to reporting by the Dallas Business Journal. The company told the publication it is targeting May 2027 for completion of the project.

A 50,000-Square-Foot Facility in Allen

The new space totals 50,000 square feet and is located at 260 W. Exchange Pkwy. in Allen. BMK said the site will house more than 100 employees in roles that range from automation engineers and chemists to pharmacists and scientific researchers. The facility will produce injectable drugs and sterile dosage forms, adding to what the Dallas Business Journal described as Allen's growing life sciences and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Timeline Shifts From Earlier Expectations

The project was first announced in 2025. At that time, it was reported that a third-quarter 2026 opening was expected. With interior work not scheduled to begin until Oct. 1, 2026, and completion now targeted for May 2027, the timeline has moved beyond the initial projection.

A 503B Outsourcing Facility

BMK was founded by entrepreneur Dr. Jay Bhaumik last year. The company operates as what is known as a "503B outsourcing facility," a term that refers to the portion of federal law that permits the compounding of large batches of medications without the need for individual, patient-specific prescriptions.

In a 2025 statement, Bhaumik described the company's aims and its choice of location. "Our mission is to ensure a reliable and innovative supply of sterile medicines, developed and manufactured right here in the U.S.," he said. "Allen provides the perfect environment, with access to exceptional talent and a strong community that supports innovation."

Why BMK Chose Allen

According to the report, BMK chose Allen because of its business-friendly climate, highly educated workforce and strategic support from the Allen Economic Development Corp. Allen EDC Executive Director and CEO Dan Bowman commented on the company's decision in a statement. "BMK Pharma's decision to establish its headquarters here reflects Allen's position as a growing hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing," Bowman said. "This investment strengthens our local economy while reinforcing Allen's reputation as a prime location for forward-thinking companies."

Other Life Sciences Arrivals in Allen

BMK is not the only life science and health business to have set up in Allen recently. The Dallas Business Journal noted that Omnilife USA Inc., a manufacturer of powdered nutritional supplements, opened its U.S. headquarters earlier this year at Prodigy Park.

Allen's Broader Development Boom

The city is in the midst of what the Dallas Business Journal characterized as a major development boom. Roughly $13 billion in investment is aimed at a stretch of State Highway 121. Projects such as Lucy Billingsley's $2 billion Sloan Corners are coming online, and the publication reported that the city is positioning itself to attract even more major corporate investment. For BMK, the coming weeks mark the transition from planning to construction. Interior work is slated to start Oct. 1, with the company aiming to have the headquarters and production facility finished by May 2027.
